Wedding & Engagement FAQ’s

What types of photography sessions do you offer?

In addition to wedding photography, we offer several wedding-related photography session options. These are Engagement, Bridal Boudoir, Trash the Dress, and Morning After photography shoots. Each of these shoots are designed to complement the wedding day and, depending on the wedding package selected, are either included in the wedding package or can be added to any package for an additional fee.

What is a Bridal Boudoir session?

Many brides want to give their new grooms a special present on their wedding day. This 1 hour session is designed to create some beautiful, sexy images of the bride for his eyes only, typically showing the bride in lingerie. This session can be done as a separate session, or on the wedding day itself as part of the getting ready photos of the bride. A custom-designed album is provided as part of this session.

What is a Trash the Dress session?

In recent years, it has become fashionable for brides (and sometimes grooms as well) to destroy, or at least look like they are destroying, their wedding day attire. This could run the gamut from jumping in a pool or lake while wearing the gown, to actually burning it or ripping it up. This 1 hour session is designed to capture the action live as it happens.

What is a Morning After session?

This newest trend in wedding photography started in New York a few years back. As it’s name implies, it was originally a session where the newlywed couple had themselves photographed in their hotel room the morning following their wedding. However, it has evolved over the years and now is a session done within the first month of the wedding in the couple’s home. It is a casual session that is designed to show the couple being themselves as newlyweds. This session normally lasts for 1 hour and includes an album of images.

What should I wear at my engagement session?

For an engagement session, we normally suggest wearing complementary clothing. You don’t need to look like identical twins, but coordinate the colors and styles.  We want you to look great, so clothing that is flattering and fits well is preferable. You can go with formal and stylish or casual, whichever you prefer. You can have more than one outfit, but because the session is only 2 hours, we want to maximize the shooting time and not spend it doing a lot of clothing changes.  Solid, neutral colors are generally better than patterns or big prints.  It is a good idea to avoid clothing with big logos, lettering, or photographs as they tend to be distracting from the most important part of the image, which is you.  Most importantly, wear clothing that is comfortable.

I have specific poses in mind.

If you have a specific pose or poses in mind, we will try to accommodate that during our photography session, and you are welcome to bring images you see in magazines or online for us to try to re-create.  However, we cannot guarantee that there will be time to do all of the poses you have in mind.  Our goal is to work with you to create a unique set of images that reflects your personality and your love for each other, and our photographer has a unique vision of how to do this. We want you to look your best in your images, and our photographer uses his training and creativity to create poses that make you look your very best.

Where do you do your engagement sessions?

It is entirely up to you where you would like to do your photography session. We suggest that you pick a place that you enjoy being at or that has some meaning to you or is important in your relationship. This session is all about capturing the romance and love between the two of you. Whether it is re-creating the moment you gave her the ring or just hanging out together, we want it to be a relaxed and fun experience.

What’s your travel cost?

Our service area includes anything within an hour’s drive of our location, and we do not charge for travel within this area.  For locations outside of our area, we charge additional fees based on the mileage or actual travel expenses incurred in providing our photography services.

What if it rains?

As many of our clients prefer to have their engagement photography done outdoors on location, weather is sometimes an issue.  We always schedule a backup date as an alternative in case of inclement weather when we book an outdoor shoot.  That way we have the best chance of capturing great images without worrying about rain.

Is there a deposit required?

We work with our clients on a contract basis.  As such, we normally require a non-refundable retainer fee at the time of booking your session or wedding.  This will vary depending on the type of photography session we are doing (wedding, engagement, bridal boudoir, trash the dress, or morning after). With the exception of weddings, we normally ask for 50% down at the time of booking, with the remainder due at the time of the session.

Do you have wedding photography packages and what do they cost?

We offer 3 different package options to our clients. We also offer a la carte pricing to add additional products or services to any of our packages. Our wedding package pricing starts at $1495. Please contact us to request more information on our packages and pricing.

Do you offer payment plans for your wedding packages?

Yes, we do. We normally require a $400 retainer fee at the time of booking and can separate the remaining cost of the package into 3 additional payments, spaced evenly between the time of booking and the wedding. Final payments are due 30 days prior to the date of your wedding.
